I just wanted to share my first baby quilt, and a great opportunity to get to grips with circles! Making a smaller quilt was very rewarding because it seemed to grow so fast!!
This quilt is for a little (boy) bundle of joy due to my friend Danielle in May (her first baby as well as my first baby quilt!!!). I am afraid that the weather is a bit dull outside which affects the picture quality.
I chose a layer cake with some charming childish patterns including animals like turtles, owls and snails. I used blues for a boy, and yellows and oranges to keep it cheerful.
I quilted straight lines 1/2 inch away from the seams and shadowing the circles. I have to say that I am impressed with the results. Each time I do a quilt I can see that I am improving which is a great start.
I chose a spotty fabric for the back because I think this will hide a multitude of sins once this starts getting used. But to avoid it getting boring I added a couple of the leftover circles for a bit of interest.
All I need now is to make a label and then wait patiently for the little bundle to arrive so I can deliver his gift! I need some more friends to breed so I can make another one!
How lovely !what a lucky baby ,I like the addition of the circles on the back too...love Jan xx
